She has a wonderful family consisted of two playful brothers (one is 10 and one is 6) that she is very fond of, a mom, and a dad. She lives with her family in Porter Ranch, CA. When she grows up, she would like to become a pediatrician and study pediatrics. For high school, she wants to go to either Granada Hills High School or El Camino High School. For college, she would like to go to USC, Harvard, Yale, or maybe Caimbridge University. She also likes to listen to music, and her favorite artists are Fun., Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, and others. She likes to watch movies with her family, and takes great interest in traveling to fun places. Daniela likes photography. She also likes to watch HGTV, The Voice, DTWS (Dancing With The Stars), and ocassionally Disney Channel. When she is older, she would like to become a pediatrician. She wants to help people that were born like her. Daniela was born premature on October 30, 2001. She was supposed to be born in February. The doctors at Kaiser Permanente said that she was going to die, and that they'd give her parents a call. Her carbon dioxide levels were too high to live. But, with her family and parents being devout Catholics, they stayed where they were and prayed for her to live. Then, right before their eyes, they saw the carbon dioxide go down, and the oxygen levels go up! So, Daniela is very grateful to be alive. Daniela likes smiling and laughing a lot. She is mostly quiet and shy, though she can be funny, sweet, and endearing towards her friends. She likes to spend a lot of her free time at school hanging out with her friends. Her best friends are:
This project, Daniela learned that there can be some difficulties when working with people in a different class than you are. She learned time management while doing this project, which was a very important skill for her to learn. She also learned how to organize her priorities. She also learned many new facts about the city of Florence, a city which she was uncommon with before. She also learned new research skills that will help her in other subjects in school. She also learned how to determine which websites are credible. During this Sustainable Cities project, Daniela also learned some new things about technology, like how to make a website! Overall, this website has been a fulfilling, incredible, and scholarly experience.
Yujin was born on June 7. She likes to play instruments, listen to music, and spend time with her family. She is the youngest in her family and has one sibling named Christina. She goes to Lawrence Middle School as a 7th grade Magnet student. Yujin likes to test out a bunch of random chords to see if they match or fit. Yujin also enjoys to hang out with her friends when she has a lot of free time. If her friends aren't available during her free time, she usually spends time with her family talking and enjoying each other. Her whole family was born in Korea except Yujin. So she is the first one to start the Korean-American generation in her family.
For this project, the most significant and effective skill that she has developed is being able to plan meetings with her group and trying to manage time. Now she is able to focus on her group's goals for that meeting day, knowing that it is a rare and special chance to get things done. She also learned that no matter how difficult and uncommon the problem is, there is always at least one solution for the problem.
Laura was born on December 23, 2000 and is the youngest in a family of 6. She is also the youngest of three older brothers. Her most favorite holidays are both Christmas and Halloween. In school, she mostly likes to spend time playing sports such as basketball and soccer. She is currently pursuing an interest as a trumpet player in the Lawrence Middle School Intermediate Band with many other friends who are also in magnet. In the future, she hopes to be a professional musician or a family doctor by studying at a college that is yet to be decided. She often procrastinates in many of her assignments. In her spare time, she plays video games, watches many television shows, draws, and attempts to play piano but not very well. She likes to try and be self-sufficient rather than to depend on others for help. She is not exactly a care-free and outgoing girl. As a habit, she has an anxiety for any quizzes or tests in academic subjects or band. She likes staying at home most of the time and experiencing new things.
During the progression of this sustainable city project, Laura slowly learned a large amount of new information on Florence, Italy. One of the things she learned was that the city of Florence made great advances in art and they were actually a republic where they had their own government at one moment in history. This project was an opportunity for her to gain knowledge about the history, culture, modern-day city, and the environmental issues of Florence. Also, she is able to teach her group members about the geography of a city that she didn't know very much on. This project showed the group on the difficulties of working with many other members because of time schedules and the division of each of the roles. This project also taught her techniques for finding more research.
Kiara was born on May 8, 2001. She enjoys reading , sports, and annoying people. She is the youngest of her family and tries to do things without bothering others. She is in the 7th grade at Lawrence Middle School and doesn't enjoy the uses of technology very much. Kiara is the proud owner of a strangely quiet dog that seems to look older than it really is. Along with the use of a pencil, she obtains some talents in drawing, no matter how small. She tries to make the best of everything while trying to make sense as well.
The most effective thing she learned in this project was how to use her knowledge to search for knowledgeable as well as reliable sources. Also during this Sustainable Cities project, working with the other group members and other people came easy once she was able to socialize and discuss things with them. And one of the most important thing she learned to do is how to manage her time as well as her priorities. This project also showed how to find solutions that could work for difficult problems. This project also helped Kiara in the field of creativity.
Angelina was born on December 7th. She has many siblings and two adorable bunnies. She is the the oldest in one family and the middle child in the other. Her siblings and her enjoy playing and hanging out together when neither she or her siblings are irritable or annoying. She also loves music and she is a great singer. She also loves dancing with friends at special occasions such as birthday parties.
In this project she learned how to work together and discuss ideas and thoughts for different subtopics and she is still continuing to discuss with her group for the model of this project. This teaches her group and her social skills and how to communicate well with others so that her group and her can deliver what they are trying to say in a fashion where everyone understands what the person talking means and can give you feedback on their thoughts. This also encourages them all not only to think critically but also creatively as individuals and as a group.
Kimia was born on December 11, 2000 and is currently 13 years old. She has a playful 7-year old sister who she is very fond of. Kimia's main hobbies include excessive reading (this sometimes includes staying up all night to finish a book), swimming, photography, watching movies, dancing, and talking to her friends. She is a natural leader that prefers to take initiative. She has been dancing for about 5 years. Recently, she has been more into ballet but she has also been involved in ballroom dance, tap, and cultural Iranian dances. Kimia also loves interior design and often spends her time remodeling and decorating her room or watching HGTV. In addition, she used to play the piano since she was 4 years old, but she has currently stopped taking lessons. She plays at her own will and would rather compose her own music. Aside from these many hobbies, she pays careful attention in school and always strives to do her absolute best. She is always precise about getting her work in on time and never misses an assignment, but she is a total procrastinator just as her fellow classmates. Kimia looks forward to attending a superior university and wants to become an orthodontist when she is older.
Kimia learned countless things from this project, and cannot wait for another similar opportunity. One of the several things she learned is how to manage a large group, and how to divide up the work among others. As her role of group leader, Kimia overlooked how everyone was doing and tried her best to solve any issues that came up. This taught her about leadership and teamwork, and how to deal with the situations. Another thing she learned from this experience pertained to the research part of this project. Kimia learned how to research more credible information, and how to decide if something was reliable or not. This assignment also gave her a chance to practice rewording a website's thoughts and not plagiarizing. From this assignment, Kimia also learned how to manage her time more efficiently and not waste it. The research and writing part of this project came easy to her, as it usually does, but she had to really focus when it came to the model. Just as always, creative processes push Kimia to her limits to try and represent her artistic side. As a final point, she learned a large amount of information from doing the Sustainable Cities project.
Elsie was born on May 6, 2001. The hobbies she enjoys are sports, dancing, eating food, and watching Netflix. Her best friends go by the names of Kiara, Laura, Yujin, Sofia, Angie, and Jisun. She is in seventh grade, currently attending Lawrence Middle School. She enjoys to use a lot of technology. Her motto is " When life brings you down, grab some food and enjoy it." She is also very skinny, and therefore that means she is never down (she never eats food). Elsie speaks both English and Spanish. She am very shy when meeting new people. In addition, she is the middle child of the three children her parents decided to have. Elsie enjoys to hang out with her friends and loves to test my limits. She also loves to go on the highest roller coasters there are. She prefers to make the best of the situations given and likes to teach her friends her many talents.
During the process of doing this project, Elsie had learned many new things about Florence, Italy that she had never known before. She learned the culture they had there at Florence. She had learned that Florence has a lot of valuable art, sculptures and many things like that. Most importantly she learned that many people living there act a lot differently than we do. This project had helped Elsie to realize that you can't do work at last minute and to manage her time wisely. This gave Elsie a chance to communicate with the members in her group. Without the communication, the group wouldn't even have a project.
