Dome of the Florence Cathedral
The dome of the Florence Cathedral made by Brunelleschi is the influential start of the dome architectures. The dome on the cathedral is 45 meters wide, and is originally made of wood. This dome feature that Brunelleschi has developed influenced many architects in the world such as the domes in Roman architecture. Even today, we still use half domes as the top of a doorway for some buildings. The reason why Brunelleschi is an amazing person, because long ago many people thought of ideas but couldn’t make the idea “come to life.” What I mean by “come to life” is that I’m saying that they can’t make their ideas happen. Before building the cathedral in Florence, the architects thought of leaving a space at the top for a half-sphere like shape. But nobody could even think of how to put a dome together except Brunelleschi, the clockmaker.
